Spring Rendezvous Rooted in Adventure

May 1-3

Your adventure begins in...

Welcome! We are so happy you will be joining us for our Spring Rendezvous.

We can't wait to meet new faces and see familiar friends from previous years. We have been improving the experience each time and are always striving to make sure we are doing our very best to make your Rendezvous weekend as enjoyable as possible. Part of the ASDT culture is to make our experiences available for all, and to keep them affordable, so you can return and try new locations. We understand that by keeping these events affordable, every amenity you are wishing to have while camping may not be available, although we do have a ton here at our new location! We will do our very best to make sure you have as many needs possible to keep you smiling.

Now that I purchased my ticket, what next?

Step 1:

Your first step in staying connected to our most updated information would be to join our Facebook Participant group: "ASDT Rendezvous Participant Group" Please click the link below, which will direct you to our personal private page. Ask to join, and make sure you give the name you used when purchasing your ticket, or leave a comment with the name of your friend who purchased your ticket as they are on the master list. This will help us verify you are a participant. We will then approve your request. Some of you may not be on Facebook, and that is okay! We post all the needed information you will need on this page, our Facebook group is filled with fun dialogue and conversations between you, other participants, ASDT's Directors and the incredible Roo Crew that you will come to love and get to know.

Step 2:

Next, please fill out the participant tee survey for us to ensure you have the correct size shirt. These are relaxed fit and true to size. They are breathable and athletic polyester. We are excited to show you this year's design as we get closer to Roo weekend. If you purchased a ticket for a friend, when they fill out their survey, please have them put your name in the designated comment space to make sure she is accounted for. The only names we have, are the individual person who purchased your ticket.

Step 3:

Next, please take a moment and fill out our participant survey to help us better assist you. This will give our crew a better idea as well as specific things we might need to know about you for your safety.

Step 4:

Last, please take a moment and fill out our Rendezvous participant waiver that is required for all to sign when joining our events. You will need to have this signed before you can check in and receive your full access wristband and swag bag Friday morning.

Where is Camp Rendezvous?

Moab Base Camp is where our Rendezvous will be held this year. This land belongs to The Boy Scouts of America and is absolutely perfect for our Rendezvous! We are 15 min before the town of Moab, but a 40 min drive to camp since you can only drive very low speeds. If you enter "Moab Base Camp" in your google maps, it will lead you directly to us very easily. Make sure you enter the Gemini Bridges location. There is another camp called Base Camp Adventure Lodge which IS NOT OUR CAMP, this will take you 4 hrs round trip in the wrong direction. The turn to our camp is right at the Dead Horse State Park/Canyonlands turn but also known as the Dinosaur turn as it is located right on the corner of the Dinosaur Park.

  • Driving South on highway 191, turn right (West) at the Dead Horse Point/Canyonlands highway 313. Drive 12.8 miles and turn left (Northeast) at Gemini Bridges Road.
  • Driving North on highway 191, turn left (West) at the Dead Horse Point/Canyonlands highway 313. Drive 12.8 miles and turn left (Northeast) at Gemini Bridges Road.
    • At Gemini Bridges Road, Camp Rendezvous signage will be visible. Drive down Gemini Bridges Road following Camp Rendezvous signage.
    • It is approximately 6 miles from highway 313 to the Crips Hole/Four Arch Canyon area on Gemini Bridges Road to M.O.A.B. Base Camp.
    • When you arrive at Camp Rendezvous, you will be greeted by flags and ASDT Roo Crew members.

What should I expect at Check In?

Thursday April 30th 6:00PM - 8PM *Additional ticket add on*

We are happy to continue our Salomon S'more Social Thursday night of the Rendezvous. The wonderful gals of Salomon will be hosting a really fun evening just for you! If you decide to purchase this $20 add-on, you will be able to join a day early, get checked in, set up your camp, and hang with all of us to answer any last minute questions you might have. We will make sure you have all of your activities ready for the weekend and understand your schedule that you signed up for. This is a great opportunity to meet other participants that traveled solo and looking for new friends just like you! Plan to set up camp, and feel relaxed and not rushed for the next morning activities. If you have any last minute questions, this is a perfect time to ask.

*We want to make sure those who are checking in early and setting up their gear have plenty of time to arrive and enjoy their early social. Please know that the road coming into camp is all dirt so make your transportation plans early and prepare for our early check in time. If you can't make it to the social, but purchased the early check in, you may still arrive Thursday evening, we will check you in the following morning. We will make sure we are aware of your late arrival.

Friday May 1st 8AM-10 AM MST

If you didn't purchase the $20 add on for our Thursday S'more Social & Early Check in, then regular check in will begin at 8:00am MST Friday, and will end at 10am MST. We have spotty service on the property. Please make sure all of your GPS is loaded so you can arrive with no hiccups. Google Maps is more accurate than your i-phone maps. Please follow directions to Moab Base Camp (Gemini Bridges), which will lead you directly to us. Please note that from the town of Moab, we are a 45 min drive away. If you need to purchase food or gas, please do so before you head to camp.

  • When you arrive to our location and enter the ASDT Rendezvous base camp, please head to the teal ASDT tent where you will be greeted by members of the ASDT Crew to check in. You will receive your weekend's schedule, participant wristband which is to be worn all weekend, and your event tee. Our parking area will be directly across a dirt road 30 sec from Tent City. Please be courteous and follow the Roo crew who will be guiding your vehicles in an organized way. In order for all cars to fit, we have designated areas for those sleeping in your vehicles, RV's, trailers etc. You may check in and then move your vehicle.
  • Set up your gear and meet at our Rendezvous common area no later than 10:15 am which is located in the group area of camp for our welcome kick off. Please be prepared to start your first activity immediately after kick off. This means, have your hydration packs filled (water spigots are at tent city), snacks packed etc. You will know the activity schedule before you arrive. Because of how large our campground is, we encourage those to always carry a backpack with items you may need throughout the day. It is a quick 5 min walk from the common area to Tent City. It helps to always have your items with you. We will start our first activity promptly at 11am.

When we first started the Rendezvous, we wanted to create an atmosphere that was welcoming to all ability levels. This is done by having activities that all levels and ages can enjoy and feel encouraged while joining, rather than discouraged and frustrated. AndShesDopeToo believes in creating the best first experience possible when trying a new outdoor sport. If you enjoy yourself the first time, you're more than likely to step into that space a second time. We will be taking advantage of the beautiful land we have for our use and having the majority of activities right here at Camp Rendezvous. We will be offering a wide range of round the clock activities that are open for anyone to join whether you begin at the start, or jump in half way, and activities that will need for you to sign up prior. These specific activities will have scheduled times all throughout camp.

How many women come by themselves?

More than half of the participants come by themselves. If you are feeling uneasy because you don't know anyone, please rest assured that you will have an incredible experience whether you are solo or coming with friends. The Rendezvous create a welcoming space to explore and adventure with other outdoor-loving women.
What is the average age of the participant?

We have a range of ages from 21 to 66. The average age is 24 to 39. The magic of ASDT events is how adventure connects participants on a soulful level, regardless of age.

Can I bring my dog?

As much as we love our fur babies, they will need to sit this weekend out. If we allowed for participants to bring their dogs, it would turn into a dog camp! Please be respectful of this. If you bring your dog, we will dishearteningly turn you away.

Which airport should I fly into?
  • Salt Lake City, UT : is a 4.5 hour drive to Moab
  • Durango, CO: is a 3 hour drive to Moab
  • Grand Junction, CO : is a 2.5 hour drive to Moab
  • Moab, UT: There are selected airlines that will fly directly into Moab.
Will someone be there to pick me up at the airport or do I need to arrange my own transportation to our meeting point?
Please arrange your own transportation to the Rendezvous. Please see the below answer for connecting with other participants for carpooling. Many carpools come to and from the airports. It isn't un common to link up and rent a car together or join the carpool link and arrange to meet.
Would it be possible to carpool with other participants? How can I get their information?

Absolutely! After you purchase your Rendezvous ticket, participants will be connected with each other before the Rendezvous through our private Rendezvous Facebook group. We also have a carpool link for those who want to be a host car or need to join a car in their area. Many participants who drive solo will be able to pick up or drop off along the way

When does the Rendezvous start and when does it end?
If you purchase the early check in add on, Plan on being with us Thursday evening Oct 10th starting at 5:30 PM , if not, regular check in is Friday October 11th at 8 AM and the Rendezvous will conclude 12PM on Sunday October 13th.
How far will our cars be from Tent City?
The parking lot is a short 30 sec walk from Tent City. Tent City is a 5 min walk from our common area.

Lowering our carbon footprint and creating friendship before the Roo! Join a carpool group!

We are encouraging and asking participants to carpool and take advantage of joining a carpool group. We have these events to not only explore beautiful places but to come together as women and create bonds from a foundation of our love for the outdoors and not competing with one another. By doing this, we hope you sign up or offer your car to carpool. We will be shuttling in transit vans to our hikes inside Canyonlands which will make Rendezvous transportation a lot easier and allows for us to have another way of getting to know more women!

**If you wish to be a driver, you can list your car and how many seats you have available, and you can also add yourself to a host car if you are needing a ride! Cool right?! We really hope you understand and make this a priority as this will cut back on using up our very little parking space we have.**

Food: All participants are responsible for their breakfast and lunches throughout the weekend unless you purchased the meal ticket. Coolers are recommended. Friday & Sat Dinner & Drinks are provided. *There will be Vegan/ GF options for each evening* Due to the fact that we are renting land from Boy Scouts of America, Alcohol will not be sold at our Rendezvous, or permitted on site. However, we will not be going around and smelling your cups/mugs. We ask that you are responsible and have respect for their policy by keeping any and all garbage out of site and not put in the garbage/recycle bins provided. We would like to keep a great professional relationship with BSA .

  • Water- We have 3 fresh water spigots in our camp that you are able to use anytime. I would suggest bringing jugs to fill up at camp and leave at your tent. We will be having a Yeti hydration station at camp that will be filled with water through out the weekend.
  • Fire- We have fire rings that are available for you to use at anytime in the common area. Each morning we will have them lit. You are able to bring your own personal fire ring as long as it is above ground and in it's own bowl. Please prepare and bring your own firewood if you need for your personal needs. Remember, morning activities come quickly and we have your dinners covered! We encourage community, please know all participants are invited to make a friend and pull up a chair if you see a fire going.
  • Dirt- I laugh at this, but if you're a newbie to Moab, just know that you will have loose dirt everywhere. It's clean dirt but where we are camping, we will be in it. I would suggest a tarp/footprint to go under your tent, always remove your shoes before entering your tent.
  • Wind- You can never predict the weather in the desert. It can be completely blue skies one minute and the next, heavy wind/rain storm. Good thing is, it never lasts long. We have had some pretty intense micro bursts come through camp. Those 5 min of wind can do some damage. If you notice the wind picking up, just know it may get extremely windy! Close up your tent windows and door every time you're going to head to an off site activity. Please keep track of your garbage and be considerate if wind came through, what items would blow away. Have your name on important gear in case it blows away from your tent. We encourage you to make sure EVERYTHING is staked down...bring extra stakes in case the wind bends them.
  • Trees- There aren't many good hammock trees to choose from if you were planning to sleep in one. But you are allowed to hang one up if you see a good spot!
  • Tables- We will have a community area with all of the tables gathered in one location. If you are wanting to bring a small camping table to keep at your tent, you are free to do so. Otherwise, there won't be tables in Tent city.
  • Bathrooms- We will have portable potties throughout camp. If you have a special medical request to be near a bathroom, please let us know prior.
  • Showers- We will have multiple hot showers on site for you to use for free as part of your Rendezvous ticket. These are located in the common area behind the kitchen. Please bring your own towel and shower shoes to wear if you like. There are lights during the evening if you wish to shower in the PM.

What should you know about Moab?

Moab is an outdoor mecca in the eastern part of Utah. It is home to some of the best geological features in Utah, and arguably the world. It is an arid, red rock environment. You will quickly see this desert environment is full of life everywhere! This ecosystem that will be our playground for the weekend is a fragile one that is just starting recover after years of mismanagement.

We will have 200 women here, so we would like to bring some things to everyone’s attention before we all arrive in Moab. Moab is a wild and wonderful place. We all need to be hyper sensitive to this. Please let “Leave No Trace” be the motto of your weekend. Some key points:

Do not throw garbage anywhere but designated trash receptacles
Pack it in, pack it out (any trash must come out with you on hikes)
Lets make it better than it was! If you see trash on the trails, please pick it up
Be conscious of the environment-don’t pick flower, plants, chase animals, etc.

Cryptobiotic Soil (biological soil crust)-
This is a feature unique to the desert. It is a colony of biologic organisms found un semi arid environments. Crypto, as you will hear us lovingly refer to her, is key to stopping erosion in the desert and aids in water retention and nutrient production. It takes years for crypto to develop. Crypto MUST be avoided. Stay on trail at all times!!! We will be more than happy to point this out to you during activities if you’ve never seen crypto. Please be respectful of this amazing desert feature and leave it alone.

Going back to the environment of the desert, realize weather changes quickly!!! It can be very hot in the day, and below freezing at night. Please pack accordingly. This applies to activities as well. Storms can blow through the desert at alarming speeds. Please keep an eye on the weather in the weeks and days leading up to the rendezvous. We prefer to use NOAA.GOVfor the most accurate weather forecast. It’s a good idea to invest in a lightweight rain jacket you can pack with you at all times. Bring more water than you think you need. If you aren’t used to our altitude and arid climate in Utah, you will dehydrate faster than you think. You will have time between activities to resupply in camp, but always err on the side of caution when it comes to hydration.
It is very easy to get lost in the desert. All of our activities are centered on heavily trafficked, well-established trails, but be aware of your activities. Do not lag behind or go off by yourself. These are all fun activities!! If you want to slow down or take your time, just tell one of the crew members and we will adjust accordingly.

I am sure many of you women are familiar with Moab, so please help all of our first time Moab-ers feel comfortable in this amazing environment. We will be reminding everyone of these key points throughout the weekend. We don’t want to be repetitive, but it just goes to show how important these points are. If you have any questions, feel free to email prior or track down a crew member during the ‘Roo. Lets all have an amazing rendezvous and leave this magical place cleaner than we found it!!!!!
