2020 Rendezvous - Rooted in adventure

Rooted in Adventure Rendezvous - Take 2
August 27th - 30th 2020

Welcome! We are so happy you will be joining us for our Rendezvous. It has been quite the journey navigating COVID-19. We are doing everything in our power to adapt to the new changes and guidelines. Please be patient as we are currently a small group operating this event. We ask for your support and love as we will be making changes and ensuring this event is worthwhile and memorable as we all are anxiously waiting to be together again.

We can't wait to meet new faces and see familiar friends from previous years. We have been improving the experience each time and are always striving to make sure we are doing our very best to make your Rendezvous weekend as enjoyable as possible. Part of the ASDT culture is to make our experiences available for all, and to keep them affordable, so you can return and try new locations. We understand that by keeping these events affordable, every amenity you are wishing to have while camping may not be available, although we do have a ton here at our new location! We will do our very best to make sure you have as many needs possible to keep you smiling.

Now that I purchased my ticket, what next?

Step 1:

Your first step in staying connected to our most updated information would be to join our Facebook Participant group: "ASDT Rendezvous Participant Group" Please click the link below, which will direct you to our personal private page. Ask to join, and make sure you give the name you used when purchasing your ticket, or leave a comment with the name of your friend who purchased your ticket as they are on the master list. This will help us verify you are a participant. We will then approve your request. Some of you may not be on Facebook, and that is okay! We post all the needed information you will need on this page, our Facebook group is filled with fun dialogue and conversations between you, other participants, ASDT's Directors and the incredible Roo Crew that you will come to love and get to know.

Step 2:

Next, please fill out the participant tee survey for us to ensure you have the correct size shirt. These are relaxed fit and true to size. They are breathable and athletic polyester. We are excited to show you this year's design as we get closer to Roo weekend. If you purchased a ticket for a friend, when they fill out their survey, please have them put your name in the designated comment space to make sure she is accounted for. The only names we have, are the individual person who purchased your ticket.

Step 3:

Next, please take a moment and fill out our participant survey to help us better assist you. This will give our crew a better idea as well as specific things we might need to know about you for your safety.

Step 4:

Last, please take a moment and fill out our Rendezvous participant waiver that is required for all to sign when joining our events. You will need to have this signed before you can check in and receive your full access wristband and swag bag Friday morning.

Where is Camp Rendezvous?

We are really fortunate to be able to enjoy another National Park location nestled in the small quaint town of Torrey, UT. Our campground is very easy to find as we are right off the main road and located on the left side of the street. The campground is called, Sand Creek and we will have our flags out where you can pull in. We will be enjoying the grounds with other campers due to the small number of participants joining in August, however we will still have our private area all to ourselves. At camp, we will have fresh water spigots found all over the property, bathrooms with showers and flushing toilets, shady trees and a gorgeous backdrop! As you can see, there are RV pads at camp with full hooks ups. We will only be allowing a handful of these larger rigs on site as we want to keep the areas clear for activities and workshops. If you are interested in bringing your Trailer for hooks ups, please send me an email. We still are offering an Overland Oasis area in camp for those who wish to sleep in their vehicles, rood top tents, camper vans, and smaller pop up trailers. If you plan to bring one of these, please let us know so we can designate the correct amount of room.

What should I expect at Check In?

We are doing our best to ensure your health and safety as you participate in our event. All participants and crew will receive a buff to wear in your swag bag to wear during carpool, check in, and any other areas you feel the need to. This will be your decision to decide if you would like to wear it outside those times. We aren't requiring it during our outdoor event, but we do ask that you are respectful for those who wish to social distance. We want all to feel comfortable with us.

Thursday August 27th 6:00PM - 9:00PM Early Check In *Additional ticket add on*

*Our S'more Social will begin at 7PM allowing plenty of time to set up and enjoy this time.

If you decide to purchase this $20 add-on, you will be able to join a day early, get checked in, set up your camp, and hang with all of us to answer any last minute questions you might have.

  • When you arrive to our location and enter the ASDT Rendezvous base camp, you will be greeted by members of the ASDT Crew. They will direct you to where you can set up your tent and park your vehicle. Once you are all set, you will make your way to the common area where you will officially check in. You will receive your weekend's schedule, participant wristband which is to be worn all weekend, and your event tee. This is a great opportunity to meet other participants that traveled solo and looking for new friends just like you! Plan to set up camp, and feel relaxed and not rushed for the next morning activities. If you have any last minute questions, this is a perfect time to ask.

*If you are arriving later Thursday evening, that's okay! We will check you in the following morning. Please make sure we are aware of your late arrival.

  • When you arrive to our location and enter the ASDT Rendezvous base camp, you will be greeted by members of the ASDT Crew. They will direct you to where you can set up and park your vehicle. You will receive your weekend's schedule, participant wristband which is to be worn all weekend, and your event tee.
  • Set up your gear and meet at our Rendezvous common area no later than 10:15 am which is located in the group area of camp for our welcome kick off. This means, have your hydration packs filled (water spigots are spread out all over camp), snacks packed etc. You will know the activity schedule before you arrive. We will start our first activity promptly at 11am.

When we first started the Rendezvous, we wanted to create an atmosphere that was welcoming to all ability levels. This is done by having activities that all levels and ages can enjoy and feel encouraged while joining, rather than discouraged and frustrated. AndShesDopeToo believes in creating the best first experience possible when trying a new outdoor sport. If you enjoy yourself the first time, you're more than likely to step into that space a second time. We will be taking advantage of the beautiful land we have for our use and having the majority of activities right here at Camp Rendezvous. We will be offering a wide range of round the clock activities that are open for anyone to join whether you begin at the start, or jump in half way, and activities that will need for you to sign up prior. These specific activities will have scheduled times all throughout camp.

What if the date you choose for the official postponed event, doesn’t work for me?

We understand that our new date might not work for you. Which is why we have given multiple options to be made available for current ticket holders found HERE, If none of these work, please email Jenn@andshesdopetoo.com

Can I sell my spot to someone who can make the new date?

Yes! We encourage you to reach out and sell your ticket to someone who can attend if you are passed the date we have listed to issue refunds. All we would need is the information from the new participant and email once you sold them their ticket. We will not be responsible for collecting funds for you. The new participant also needs to be aware that they are passed the date of refunds and will need to be aware of our policy.

I need my money ASAP, why aren’t you releasing my funds in this critical time?

We understand the fear and uncomfortable situation COVID-19 has left everyone in. Please understand we aren’t making this choice because we are greedy or wanting to hold on to your money for the sake of it. We are following our policy we have created to protect our small business to allow us to create events after the emotional affects. We understand to some, this might not make sense as financial times are serious and every penny counts. Which again, is why we have a policy to protect ourselves as a small business. Funds have already been allocated to vendors and creating this event. We aren’t the only ones who make decisions in this industry, everyone is waiting on the unknown.

I haven’t been receiving your emails, where can I find them?

Some of you have emailed us saying you haven’t heard anything from us since you purchased your ticket. We apologize that you have felt in the dark. However, every person who purchased a ticket is automatically sent to our event email list for our bulk announcements. Some of your emails will get flagged as junk or spam. I would highly suggest you checking your folder for these. You can also find the majority of the information from the emails on our event page.

Friday & Sat Dinner & Drinks are provided. *There will be Vegan/ GF options for each evening* If you do choose to bring alcohol, We ask that you are responsible and have respect for everyone around you. Please be courteous and mindful of each and everyones expereince this weekend.

  • Water- We have multiple fresh water spigots in our camp that you are able to use anytime. I would suggest bringing jugs to fill up at camp and leave at your tent. We will be having a Yeti hydration station at camp that will be filled with water through out the weekend.
  • Fire- We have fire rings that are available for you to use at anytime in the common area. Each morning we will have them lit. You are able to bring your own personal fire ring as long as it is above ground and in it's own bowl. Please prepare and bring your own firewood if you need for your personal needs. Remember, morning activities come quickly and we have your dinners covered! We encourage community, please know all participants are invited to make a friend and pull up a chair if you see a fire going.
  • Wind- You can never predict the weather in the desert. It can be completely blue skies one minute and the next, heavy wind/rain storm. Good thing is, it never lasts long. We have had some pretty intense micro bursts come through camp. Those 5 min of wind can do some damage. If you notice the wind picking up, just know it may get extremely windy! Close up your tent windows and door every time you're going to head to an off site activity. Please keep track of your garbage and be considerate if wind came through, what items would blow away. Have your name on important gear in case it blows away from your tent. We encourage you to make sure EVERYTHING is staked down...bring extra stakes in case the wind bends them.
  • Trees- We have beautiful shady trees at camp!
  • Tables- We will have a community area with all of the tables gathered in one location. If you are wanting to bring a small camping table to keep at your tent, you are free to do so. Otherwise, there won't be tables in Tent city.
  • Bathrooms- We will have bathrooms at camp that have 2 flushing toilets in each of them. Please be courteous as they do back up. We will be bringing in extra portable potties to make sure nothing is backed up and we have enough for our needs.
  • Showers- We will have 2 showers on site for you to use as part of your Rendezvous ticket. We will keep you updated if there is a limit on the number you can take and also a time limit due to the high capacity of our event. These are located in the restrooms. Please bring your own towel and shower shoes to wear if you like. There are lights during the evening if you wish to shower in the PM.

What should you know about Torrey, UT?

We will have 50 women here, so we would like to bring some things to everyone’s attention before we all arrive in Torrey, UT. Torrey is a quaint, intimate, and wonderful place. We all need to be hyper sensitive to this. Please let “Leave No Trace” be the motto of your weekend. Some key points:

Do not throw garbage anywhere but designated trash receptacles
Pack it in, pack it out (any trash must come out with you on hikes)
Lets make it better than it was! If you see trash on the trails, please pick it up
Be conscious of the environment-don’t pick flower, plants, chase animals, etc.

Cryptobiotic Soil (biological soil crust)-
This is a feature unique to the desert. It is a colony of biologic organisms found in semi arid environments. Crypto, as you will hear us lovingly refer to her, is key to stopping erosion in the desert and aids in water retention and nutrient production. It takes years for crypto to develop. Crypto MUST be avoided. Stay on trail at all times!!! We will be more than happy to point this out to you during activities if you’ve never seen crypto. Please be respectful of this amazing desert feature and leave it alone.

Going back to the environment of the desert, realize weather changes quickly!!! It can be very hot in the day, and below freezing at night. Please pack accordingly. This applies to activities as well. Storms can blow through the desert at alarming speeds. Please keep an eye on the weather in the weeks and days leading up to the rendezvous. We prefer to use NOAA.GOVfor the most accurate weather forecast. It’s a good idea to invest in a lightweight rain jacket you can pack with you at all times. Bring more water than you think you need. If you aren’t used to our altitude and arid climate in Utah, you will dehydrate faster than you think. You will have time between activities to resupply in camp, but always err on the side of caution when it comes to hydration. It is very easy to get lost in the desert. All of our activities are centered on heavily trafficked, well-established trails, but be aware of your activities. Do not lag behind or go off by yourself. These are all fun activities!! If you want to slow down or take your time, just tell one of the crew members and we will adjust accordingly.

If you are needing to go to the grocery store, the nearest one is 18 miles from Torrey. Please prepare before you arrive to camp. There are a handful of local restaurants if you choose to support local, and gas station markets for quick things you might have forgotten. This town is very small and we wish to be respectful of their residents both human and non.

We will be reminding everyone of these key points throughout the weekend. We don’t want to be repetitive, but it just goes to show how important these points are. If you have any questions, feel free to email prior or track down a crew member during the ‘Roo. Lets all have an amazing rendezvous and leave this magical place cleaner than we found it!!!!!

ASDT Ambassador and Retreat Guide

It is your responsibility to read and understand both our COVID-19 cancellation policy and our new 2021 policy before making a reservation.

Naturally, no one books with the intention of cancelling or postponing their Rendezvous trip, but unexpected things do happen, and we want all of our participants to be aware of our policies.

NEW COVID-19 POLICY for 2020

We are softening our cancellation policy for all new Rendezvous ticket purchases from May 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. We want to make things easy for you! The changes are highlighted below:

  • You may cancel your trip up to 30 DAYS in advance of the trip start date. Until then you’ll receive a 100% credit that can be applied to ANY AndShe’sDopeToo trip in 2020, 2021 or 2022! No refunds will be given, no exceptions.
  • If you need to cancel or re-book your trip date more than once, there will not be any limits or penalties! So, you can postpone multiple times if you have to, in order to see how things forge ahead and if the event you purchased a ticket for will take place.
  • If you decide to cancel your trip and keep your trip credit, there is no rush to confirm which Rendezvous/Retreat you will re-book with us. You can hold your credit steady until the end of 2022. No pressure! We will inform you when we add new Rendezvous/Retreat dates for 2021 or 2022, so that you know what all of your options are, and have the first chance to grab your spot.
  • You are welcome to transfer your credit at any time. Transfer to another participant and she can apply it to any Retreat or Rendezvous! If you prefer to sell the full credit to another person as a gift certificate, you can easily do so.

AndShe'sDopeToo is not responsible for your expenses incurred in preparation for any cancelled Rendezvous, such as airline tickets, loss of work, and/or any other costs associated with preparing for your trip. AndShe'sDopeToo may change this policy at any time. It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policy before making a reservation.

If you choose our meal ticket option, your main 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) will be covered each day for the entire weekend starting Friday breakfast and ending with Sunday Breakfast. You will be responsible for your snacks & extra drinks.

All participants who do not choose this ticket option are responsible for their breakfasts, snacks, lunches, and drinks.

*There are vegan and gluten-free options for each evening.

If you would like to add a meal option to your Rendezvous experience, please click HERE

We will be showing some of our favorite past Lady Wild Film Festival short films Saturday evening. Bring your blanket, chair, snacks and choice of drink to watch women on the screen that will leave you inspired! This will be our version of movie under the stars.

Please be prepared to join in our carpool host cars. We will have park passes in our vehicles and a sanitization box before and after each use. We ask that each participant washes their hands and wears their ASDT buff or face mask of choice to cover themselves in the vehicles while en route. We will santitize each car before the next group arrives. We also are okay if you choose to drive your own vehicle and follow behind. You will need to purchase a weekend park pass
